In April, General Motors announced its plans to end the electric Chevrolet Bolt production. But now there is good news for fans in fleet, GM is introducing a next-generation Bolt.

Announced during the company’s quarterly earnings conference call, GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra said, “Our customers love today’s Bolt. It has been delivering record sales and some of the highest customer satisfaction and loyalty scores in the industry. It’s also an important source of conquest sales for the company and for Chevrolet.”

“We will keep the momentum going by delivering a new Bolt…and we will execute it more quickly compared to an all-new program with significantly lower engineering expense and capital investment by updating the vehicle with Ultium and Ultifi technologies and by applying our ‘winning with simplicity’ discipline,” Barra added.

Swift Return of the Popular Bolt Model

Leveraging a combination of Ultium and Ultifi technological advancements, GM is set to reintroduce the Bolt model to the market in record time.

Specific details and the timeline for the next-generation Bolt will be disclosed later.

As part of Chevrolet's expanding lineup of all-electric vehicles, the Bolt is expected to join the ranks of the Silverado EV, Blazer EV, and Equinox EV, all of which are slated for launch this year.

Since its debut in 2017, the Chevrolet Bolt was the first mass-produced EV with a long-range capacity, offered at an affordable price.

The Bolt EV and Bolt EUV have experienced their strongest sales to date during the first half of 2023.

Notably, 80% of Bolt owners display brand loyalty to Chevrolet, while nearly 70% of buyers trading in their vehicles to acquire a Bolt are transitioning from non-GM products.
