Between vehicle sales declines, microchip shortages, and pandemic fallout, the automotive industry is facing a product and manufacturing squeeze reverberating throughout the market.

So when companies succeed in such challenging environments, they very likely can offer some helpful advice. In a session titled, “Gaining Ground Against the Odds,” attendees to the 2021 Conference of Automotive Remarketing will learn about auctions that managed their businesses in a way that enabled them to thrive in 2020. What did they do that set them apart?

The session, hosted by CAR sponsor Auction Edge, will be held Thursday, June 17 at 5 to 5:45 pm ET / 2 to 2:45 pm ET at the conference site in Caesar’s Las Vegas.

Dan Diedrich of Auction Edge will lead the discussion on how these auctions excelled during the pandemic market shock in 2020 and so far this year. He will be joined by:

  • Eric Autenrieth, general manager and owner of Stanley Autenrieth Auction Group. He is also owner of Indiana Auto Auction and general manager of Carolina Auto Auction, and president of ServNet Auction Group.

  • Laura Taylor, general manager of Charleston Auto Auction of Charleston, S.C., an XLerate Group Auction Partner.

  • Justin Soghomonian, vice president of All Valley Dealer Auto Auction of Van Nuys, Calif., who is also the son of Vahe Soghomonian who opened his first auction in 1986 as a small silent bid sale out of a small office. Justin has been working in the auction since he was 16 years old.

The success stories are still taking shape in 2021 as auctions apply strategies for market disruptions and shifts.

The 2021 CAR will be held June 16-17 in-person and livestreamed.
