OVERLAND PARK, KS – Bret Watson, CAFM, was named national fleet operations manager for the new Sprint/Nextel Corp. Randy Shadley, CAFM, was named national fleet safety manager for Sprint/Nextel. Previously, Shadley was fleet manager for Nextel Communications prior to the company's merger with Sprint. The new Sprint/Nextel Corporation Fleet will have 3,925 units. GE Commercial Finance Fleet Services is the leasing company for Sprint/Nextel as it was for the two companies prior to the merger. Doug Whitacre will continue as the national fleet manager of the Sprint Local Telephone division, which will be spun off as its own company in the second quarter of 2006. The spun off company will be completely separate from the new Sprint/Nextel Corporation. The Sprint Local Telephone Division fleet has approximately 9,000 units.
