20 of 38 North American brands in 2002 offered in-vehicle navigation systems as a standard feature or option, according to a year-end industry recap released by Navigation Technologies, a provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation, Internet/wireless, and business applications. In total, 72 models offered navigation systems last year, up from 52 in 2001. Sales of models offering navigation systems accounted for 18 percent of U.S. car sales, according to Navigation Technologies.
