Ford Motor Co. is recalling 432,096 2015 model-year Escape, Focus and C-Max vehicles in North America because a body control module problem may cause the engine to continue to run after the driver turns the ignition key to the “off” position or pushes the engine start/stop button.

In these vehicles, the engine also may continue to run even after the driver turns off the ignition and removes the ignition key.

Ford dealers will update the body control module software, free of cost, to bring the system into compliance with applicable federal safety standards for theft protection and rollaway prevention, the automaker said.

Ford said it isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem. Of the vehicles involved in this recall, 374,781 are in the U.S. and federalized territories. Another 52,180 are in Canada and 5,135 are in Mexico.
