The Acura RDX will undergo an "extensive redesign" and will debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Jan. 15, Honda's luxury unit announced.

The RDX would enter its third generation and will receive its most extensive redesign in more than a decade. The new compact SUV will arrive with "sleeker, more exocative exterior styling" and an overhaul of the interior.

The RDX was first sold in the U.S. in the 2007 model year and entered its second generation with the 2013 model year.
