July 18, 2013

Nissan detailed its updates to its 2014 model-year product line, including a number of vehicles used in fleets, including the 2014-MY Frontier, Nissan NV Cargo, Nissan NV Passenger van, and Nissan NV200 Taxi.

The 2014 Nissan Frontier will come in King Cab and Crew Cab body styles and in 4x2 and 4x4 driveline configurations. The vehicle will also offer five trim levels, including Frontier S (4-cylinder and V-6), SV, PRO-4X, Desert Runner and SL (Crew Cab only). Nissan added heated front seats to the SV VTP package and offers heated front cloth seats as standard on the PRO-4X and optional on the SV trim level.

Nissan added a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, manual air conditioning, cruise control and steering wheel controls (audio, Bluetooth, and cruise control), a front sunglass holder, a Bluetooth microphone, and an upgraded audio system added as standard features on S models. Next, the navigation system features smartphone integration, enhanced voice recognition and device control, and “one-shot” destination entry as new features. Nissan also offers its NissanConnect Apps, which integrates with iPhone and Android devices, SiriusXM TravelLink (which offers fuel prices, movie times, stock updates, etc.), and SiriusXM Weather. The 2014 Frontier will be available in September 2013, according to the automaker.

For its commercial vehicle lineup, the 2014 Nissan NV Cargo van features a number of updates, including new content between the S and SV trim grades. Next, Tow Mode A/T, Class-IV receiver hitch, a 7-pin connector pre-wiring, brake controller pre-wiring, and heavy duty battery are now standard on all V-8 engine-equipped models. The NV Cargo van comes in three versions, NV1500, NV2500 HD, and NV3500 HD, and in two roof configurations, Standard Roof and High Roof. The 2014-MY NV Cargo goes on sale in January 2014.

The NV Passenger van features enhancements for 2014 as well, including Tow Mode A/T, a Class-IV receiver hitch, a 7-pin connector pre-wiring, brake controller pre-wiring, and heavy duty battery as standard features on all V-8 engine-equipped models. The NV Passenger van comes in three models, including the NV3500 HD S, the NV3500 HD SV, and NV3500 HD SL (V-8 engine only).

Lastly, the Nissan NV200 Taxi is set to enter taxi fleets in New York in October 2013. This vehicle features sliding doors with entry step and grab handles; a transparent roof panel; independently controlled rear air conditioning; a mobile charging station for passengers, including a 12-volt electrical outlet and two USB ports; roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags and driver and front-passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags; and a 2.0L 4-cylinder powertrain.
