Nissan recently previewed its all-new NV200 cargo van for automotive journalists in San Diego, highlighting the compact van's versatility for fleets of all sizes and types.

The Nissan NV200 features a 2.0L four-cylinder 131 hp CVT engine. It has a mileage rating of 24 mpg city/25 mpg highway/24 mpg combined.

The cargo version of the NV200 has 122.7 cu ft of cargo capacity and a maximum payload capacity of 1,500 lbs. The Nissan NV200 Compact Cargo offers "mobile office" functionality with a center console featuring laptop/hanging file folder storage, pen/pencil tray, CD holder, and dual cupholders. Recessed storage areas are provided on the upper instrument panel for folders and documents.

The NV200 is available in two trims--the S and SV. The MSRP for the S is $19,900 and the SV $20,980.

The automaker said that the NV200 is expected to appeal both to commercial fleets and hobbyists (e.g., musicians, weekend athletes).

The van is specifically designed for upfitting. Nissan worked with upfitter Adrian Steel to include specially designed integrated mounting points specifically for upfitting. The cargo area also includes tie down points to secure cargo.

According to Mike Hobson, Nissan's director of fleet, the NV200 has appealed to a wide-range of industries including pest control, security, tech installers--such as home audio and computer networking--delivery, and catering.

In addition to the NV200, Nissan offers a passenger van for the taxi market, the Nissan NV200 Taxi. The automaker offers a different line of cargo vans from the NV200, the NV Cargo Van, which comes in three models, the 1500, the 2500, and the 3500 HD. The automaker also offers a 12-passenger van called the NV Passenger Van, which is based on the Nissan 3500 HD.
