Apple is focusing on self-driving vehicle technology that Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook described as "a core technology" and the "mother of all AI projects" in an interview with Bloomberg Television.

Apple has moved toward developing the technology rather than a full vehicle after it rebooted a secret project known as Project Titan last year that had initially set out to develop a self-driving vehicle.

The project was handed over to Apple veteran Bob Mansfield in 2016.
