Volkswagen Group of America is recalling 14,535 2017 model-year Audi Q7 luxury SUVs to fix a software issue that might cause the frontal air bags to deploy with excessive force during certain crashes.

To resolve the problem, dealers will update the air bag control module software. There will be no charge for this service, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall covers Audi Q7 vehicles manufactured from Aug. 30, 2015, to May 8, 2016.

Vehicle owners can reach Audi customer service at (800) 253-2834. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 6903.
