GM Recalling More Than 38,400 Pontiac G8 Vehicles
WASHINGTON – General Motors is recalling more than 38,400 model-year 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 vehicles so that dealers can reprogram the front passenger seat position sensing and diagnostic module.
The adjustment will address a potential problem that might cause a 30-millisecond deployment delay between the first and second stages of the dual-stage frontal passenger air bag. The risk is present when the front passenger seat is positioned fully forward.
The reprogramming will be performed free of charge.
The recall affects Pontiac G8 vehicles manufactured from Nov. 2, 2007 through Jan. 22, 2009, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
Owners can reach Pontiac at (800) 620-7668.
