Driver’s Alert to Offer Geotab's GPS Technology in Fleet Safety Management Solution

August 09, 2011 - Press Release

LIGHTHOUSE POINT, FL and OAKVILLE, ONTARIO – Driver’s Alert, Inc., a pioneer in the fleet safety and risk reduction industries, and Geotab, Inc., the telematics management system of choice for leading local and international corporations, announced a business alliance whereby Driver’s Alert will offer Geotab’s GPS vehicle tracking hardware devices (GO5 and GO4V3) as integrated options of its fleet safety management solution. Driver’s Alert Smart Risk is a fully integrated program of driver behavior identification, online training, Web-based reporting and benchmarking.

Commenting on the arrangement, Paul Milazzo, Driver’s Alert Co-founder and Managing Partner, said: “Our clients have been eagerly awaiting our integration of a GPS tracking device with our own behavior-based safety tools. The new bundled service package ranks Driver’s Alert as the first service provider to offer Learning, Safety and Fleet Management Software (LSFMS) managed by a single, easy-to-use interface. We’re giving managers real-time information on driver behavior, fuel usage, employee productivity and more while providing an easy, cost-effective way to ensure compliance with new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) hours of service (HOS) regulations.”

Colin Sutherland, Vice President of Sales at Geotab commented on the agreement by saying:  “We are excited about Driver’s Alert integrating our powerful GPS vehicle tracking devices with Smart Risk. Both of our companies have proven records of leadership and innovation. Our products complement Driver’s Alert’s end-to-end fleet safety management service by providing additional points of data to identify driving habits that can be managed through our in-vehicle driver feedback alerts as well as Driver’s Alert training. In working with Driver’s Alert, a broader range of small through large enterprise class customers will have access to Geotab’s fleet, efficiency and driving performance score dashboards, reports and events to reduce claims and operating costs.”

The GO5 hardware device is truly plug and play technology. Setup is simple and the unit is entirely self-contained. It offers precise tracking and accident re-creation, as well as live vehicle data with in-vehicle audible alerts to notify drivers instantly of driving infractions. The GO5 is a small form factor, fitting into the palm of your hand.  While the GO5 and GO4 have the same functionality, the GO4 provides more data points.

The GO4V3 is the ultimate enterprise solution device.  It builds on the features of the GO5 with a special focus on the needs of fleets, and provides more functionality. The GO4V3 adds the ability to track drivers for productivity and safety score carding, regardless of the vehicle they are driving. Eight auxiliary inputs help separate necessary PTO (personal time off) idling from unnecessary idle time. An expansion port allows connection to third party devices, such as a Garmin navigational device, mobile data terminals and other application devices. When used with a Garmin device, it provides 2-way driver and dispatcher communications as well as satellite capabilities and much more. The GO4V3 is a more robust system that provides more data, is larger in size and requires a wire-install procedure.

In time, additional products and configurations of the Geotab product line may be offered by Driver’s Alert. For pricing, contact a Driver’s Alert sales team member at 800-741-5454.

GPS technology is one of the highly evolving technologies nowadays. I have a feeling that it will continue to get famous in the future. However bleak that future seems to those who labor to bring forth this technological advancement, it can still be considered promising.

Some may be tricked in thinking however that they provide the best technology but the one you mentioned here is undoubtedly as promising as any other innovations offered in the market. Thanks for the insights.
