Cooper Tire Recalls Nearly 8,000 Tires

February 24, 2010

WASHINGTON - Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling nearly 8,000 Discoverer H/T and Discoverer LSX tires that are size 245/70R17.

These tires fail to meet federal safety standards. At various mileages, they may develop and show tread chunking or cracking in the tread shoulder area, NHTSA said.

Tread chunks may separate from the tire casing, posing a serious safety risk.

Cooper Tire will replace the tires free of charge. The recall will begin in March.

Cooper Tire can be reached at (800) 854-6288.
