Wheelchair Lift Issue Spurs NABI Bus Recall

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- North American Bus Industries Inc. (NABI) is recalling 326 MY 2001-2009 416 Model standard floor city transit buses equipped with Lift-U wheelchair lifts. 

The buses covered by the recall were all manufactured from January 2001 through Oct. 5, 2009, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. 

The lifts are equipped with a logic board assembly for the wheelchair lift control box. The outboard ramp barrier poses an injury risk because it could fold in toward a lift passenger. 

NABI will notify owners of the recall, and Lift-U will make the necessary repairs free of charge.
