Ford vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 will now feature improved integration of the Waze navigation app, which can now be displayed on the Ford SYNC 3’s touch screen, including any 2018 model year Ford vehicle equipped with SYNC 3 version 3.0 or greater.

Waze will be made available through the Ford SYNC AppLink, integrating it with the rest of the SYNC 3 infotainment features, Ford announced at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Smartphone users can plug their Waze-equipped smartphone into the vehicle’s USB port, which will then project onto the vehicle’s touch screen, and will be integrated into the vehicle’s sound system.

Waze uses crowd-sourcing to gather information about road conditions from all of its users to deliver optimal driving directions and traffic updates, Ford said in a release. Waze users type in their destination and drive with the app open to contribute data to Waze’s community of users.
