Mitsubishi Motors’ Italian Distributor, M.M. Automobili Italia Spa (MMAI), has announced it has delivered 23 i-MiEV electric cars to the Carabinieri, Italy’s military police force, as it intends to carry on with it duties, which it has carried out for over 200 years, in a sustainable manner.

Mitsubishi i-MiEV models are also in active service with police forces in Japan (Kanagawa Prefecture), Hong Kong, Spain, and the UK. The Italian i-MiEVs will be wrapped in full Carabinieri livery and are set to enter service in the historic centers of large cities, in islands as well as in the zero-emission area of the “2015 Expo” in Milan, according to the automaker.

Since launch end of CY-2010, the automaker said that 5,590 Mitsubishi i-MiEVs have been sold in Europe (to June 2014).
