Hyundai to Introduce Hybrid Sonata
ANN ARBOR, MI --- Hyundai Motor Co. expects to introduce its first hybrid in the U.S. market as early as 2010, according to a report from Reuters.
John Krafcik, vice president for product development at Hyundai, said the company would offer a hybrid version of the Sonata sedan for American consumers and would unveil a prototype of the vehicle in November.
"Our first U.S. hybrid is going to be the Sonata," Krafcik told reporters at an event hosted by Hyundai. Krafcik added that the Sonata hybrid was likely to be launched in the 2010 calendar year, Reuters reported.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the prototype will be on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. The car will be powered by both gas and electric motors and will feature a new lithium-ion battery.
