California's Orange County Buys 249 CNG Buses

May 16, 2006

ORANGE, Calif. --- The Orange County Transportation Authority board this month voted to purchase 249 compressed natural gas buses for $106 million, the Orange County Register reported. In light of current gasoline prices, the county expects higher demand for public transportation. In June, the board ordered 50 of the buses for $21.4 million as part of its plans to convert its fleet away from diesel fuel, the Register reported.
