Congressional Bill Seeks to Broaden State Use of Ignition Interlock Devices

WASHINGTON – House Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman John Mica (R-Fla.) has introduced a provision in the House transportation bill that would offer additional highway funds to states that require installation of ignition interlock devices in vehicles of all drivers convicted of a DUI.

New York's Ignition Interlock Law in Effect Aug. 15

NEW YORK - Beginning Aug. 15, Leandra's Law will take affect in the state of New York and anyone convicted of misdemeanor or felony drunken driving will be required to install -- for a minimum of six months -- an ignition interlock breathalyzer device, the New York Times reported.
