Nissan's new NV200 taxi made its debut in New York City in late 2013 following a few regulatory bumps in the road, and is now widely available. The taxi arrives with NV200 guts, as well as added rear seating for four passengers, side windows, and a Lexan partition to shield drivers from rowdy revelers. Nissan introduced its NV200 compact cargo van for the 2010 model year to compete in the segement that at the time included only the Ford's Transit Connect.

Although the Ford Transit full-size van is brand new to North America, it has dominated the European market for nearly 50 years. More than seven million Transit commercial vans have been produced and sold around the world since the vehicle was introduced in 1965.
