AFLA Canada 2020 Fleet Summit

The packed AFLA Canada Fleet Summit is an event designed to promote fleet management education for Canadian-based commercial fleet managers and to help multinational fleets operating in Canada to better understand the Canadian fleet market. The event also attracted international attendees such as Mace Hartley (first row, third from left) executive director of the Australasian Fleet Management Association (AfMA).

Fleet managers such as Jim Petrillo (third from the right), manager of accounting services/fleet manager at FUJIFILM Holdings America Corp., which operates a fleet in both the U.S. and Canada, attended the event.

The inaugural AFLA Canada Fleet Summit exceeded its original expected attendance and saw more than 200 attendees.

Sponsors of the inaugural AFLA Canada Fleet Summit included fleet management companies, telematics companies, OEMs, fuel management providers, accident management companies, and vehicle transporters.

Eliot Bensel, vice president of account development for The CEI Group, spoke during the Deep Dive: Best Practices in Safety Management session about the key challenges and trends that Canadian and U.S. commercial fleets face.

The Women in Fleet Management Panel Conversation was moderated by Caroline Costello of Utilimaster Corp. Cindy Chesney, Barb Tilly, Sarah Hanson, and Karen Mongelli were among the speakers.

Mike Antich, editor of Automotive Fleet magazine and AFLA Canada Fleet Summit co-chair, moderated the opening fleet-manager only session that identified a peer-developed benchmarking study.

Keith McLaughlin, editor & publisher of Canadian Automotive Fleet, presented the keynote address, in which he explored the current trends in the Canadian commercial fleet sector.

The first deep dive session that covered the topic of identifying and implementing fleet best practices in Canada, included panelists (from l-r) Ryan Craig, country security manager of 3M and Jon Grant national fleet manager of G4S Canada.

Sessions included interactive components, John Dmochowsky, global fleet manager of Mondelez International, is pictured during a Q&A portion of a session.

Networking was a large part of the inaugural AFLA Canada Fleet Summit.

The Order-to-Delivery Issues session included speakers such as Jeff Hartley, president of Foss National Leasing Ltd.; Michael Tanel, VP business development for Farmbro Inc.; Bernie Moorcroft, national commercial fleet sales manager at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles; and Jeff Fitchett, national commercial accounts manager at GM of Canada.
