Nonprofit Green Tech Education & Employment is planning to develop a mobility hub to provide zero-emissions vehicles to Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights neighborhood, according to a report by the Sacramento Business Journal.
The nearly $1-million hub will feature a 12-car parking lot and an electric car fast charger and six level 2 chargers for electric vehicles. Additionally, the area will contain a transit hub for an electric bus and a hybrid/hydrogen ride-hailing service, according to plans submitted to the city of Sacramento.
“One of the major problems we have is transportation to our programs,” Simeon Gant, executive director of Green Tech Education, told the Sacramento Business Journal.
California Air Resources Board, Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and the city of Sacramento are funding this project.
The ride-hailing service will offer hydrogen-electric cars to provide rides to residents of the low-income neighborhood, according to the report. The ride-sharing service will feature electric cars.
To use the ride-sharing service, customers must be low income and signed up as members, according to the report.
