Volvo has launched its redesigned 2015 XC90 after months of teasing various aspects of the automaker's flagship luxury SUV that gets a significant redesign for the model year.
The XC90 will offer a cutting-edge engine lineup allowing customers to choose between a 2.0L four-cylinder supercharged and turbocharged engine with all-wheel drive and a plug-in hybrid model with the same engine that adds an electric motor. The gasoline engine produces 316 hp, while the hybrid model delivers 400 hp, according to Volvo.
The 2015 XC90 gets a range of safety and technology upgrades including automatic braking if the driver turns in front of an oncoming car. Volvo is calling the technology City Safety. The vehicle will also come standard with a run-off road protection package. Volvo claims both technologies mark an automotive first.
The interior features a new in-car infotainment system that's virtually button free and allows users to control Internet-based products and services, as well as a top-of-the-line audio system with air-ventilated subwoofers.
