Volvo Announces Its LA Auto Show Debut: Nothing
Rather than debuting a vehicle ahead of this year's LA Auto Show at the AutoMobility LA trade show, Volvo is planning an alternative approach to vehicle debuts. The automaker announced that it will "show nothing" at the event.

Rather than debuting a vehicle ahead of this year's LA Auto Show at the AutoMobility LA trade show, Volvo is planning an alternative approach to vehicle debuts. The automaker announced that it will "show nothing" at the event.
Of course, Volvo won't debut air at its Nov. 29 media reception. Instead, Volvo plans to "demonstrate its vision, redefining what a car can be," the company announced.
"Since motor shows were introduced, the car has always been a centrepiece, on a rotating stage or covered under a silk sheet. Yet cars are changing, the industry is changing and so are the expectations of people who use cars," according to the company.
Volvo executives will use their time to show several interactive demonstrations of connectivity services, such as in-car delivery, carsharing, and the Volvo 360c autonomous concept with Care by Volvo subscription service.
"Our industry is changing. Rather than just building and selling cars, we will really provide our customers with the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way," said Håkan Samuelsson, chief executive of Volvo Cars. "We offer our customers access to a car, including new attractive services whenever and wherever they want it."
