Volvo is adding a comprehensive infotainment system and connected-car technologies to its 2015 models, including offering internet access, roadside assistance, and smartphone apps.
The technologies are being rolled out now on all 2015 model-year vehicles, the automaker announced.
The technologies offered include access to the Internet and a range of entertainment/navigation apps, including Pandora, Yelp, and Glympse. Volvo will asl offer 3G connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot and tethering capabilities. The Volvo On Call smartphone app enables users to check vehicle status, locate their vehicle, as well as remotely lock, unlock, and start the vehicle.
A 24/7 call center now supports drivers with in-car roadside assistance support and on-the-go service scheduling. A refreshed user interface links the digital dashboard and center stack displays.
Volvo's has begun offering a technology known as Sensus Connect that provides full-function steering wheel controls and select voice control options for greater safety.
