Nissan’s global crossover and SUV sales increased more than 12% in 2017, representing an increase of 230,000 vehicles, according to the company. Full-year 2017 global sales reached more than 2 million vehicles.
The rise in vehicle sales were mainly driven by the Nissan Kicks subcompact SUV, the Rogue, X-Trail and Qashqai compact models, the Armada full-size SUV, and the Infiniti QX30 compact luxury crossover, the company added.
Nissan began selling the Qashqai in the U.S. as the 2017 Rogue Sport. The Kicks crossover will launch this year in the U.S. as a 2018 model, and its release in Mexico, Latin America, and China have already benefited the new model. Worldwide sales of the small crossover have nearly reached 109,000 sales, according to Nissan.
The Nissan Rogue, X-Trail, and Qashqai platform sales grew 10% in 2017 to more than 1.38 million worldwide in 2017. Meanwhile, sales of vehicles on the Armada/Patrol platform increased 79% worldwide to nearly 80,000 with strong sales in the U.S. and Middle East.
As for the Infiniti brand, sales of the QX30 increased 97% in 2017, nearly reaching 32,000 vehicles during the first full year on sale.
