Smartcar, a developer platform for mobility businesses, is expanding to Canada. The company’s first Canadian customers include peer-to-peer car rental company Turo, vehicle prognostics platform Pitstop, and ACE Marktplace, a provider of lot management software. This follows the company’s launch in Europe last month.
According to Smartcar, businesses use its APIs to connect their apps and services directly to vehicles without aftermarket devices. Examples include auto insurance providers to verify mileage, electric utility providers that offer smart EV charging programs, and carsharing marketplaces to offer contactless rentals with digital keys.

“After our expansion to Europe last month, we’re excited to launch our platform in Canada,” said Smartcar CEO Sahas Katta. “Our partnerships there have shown a wealth of opportunities for businesses building with Smartcar. We’re excited to be bringing our services into more markets as 2021 continues.”
