Raymond Farrey, founder of Interstate Auto Auction and Interstate Auto Salvage Auction, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center in Madison. He was 76. Farrey was a teacher at Argyle High School; he owned and operated various businesses in the Baraboo/Portage area such as a bowling alley in Portage, a furnace/fuel oil business, and a chain of self-service gas stations. While working in real estate, Raymond developed many areas, the largest being the McGinnis Lake development in Adams County. After his retirement, he founded the Interstate Auto Auction (now ADESA Wisconsin) and Interstate Auto Salvage Auction. Farrey is survived by his wife, Monica, and six children.
