Nissan Recalls Infiniti Q50, Q70 Hybrids
Two separate recalls, addressing transmission and electric motor issues, affect a total of 6,229 Infiniti hybrid sedans.

Nissan North America is issuing two separate recalls to address potential problems in 2014 model-year Infiniti Q50 hybrid and Q70 hybrid sedans, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.
One of the recalls includes 5,412 2014-MY Infiniti Q50 hybrid and Q70 hybrid sedans at risk for motor failure. Because of a software error, the electric motor may stop working while the vehicle is being driven using the electric motor only. Dealers will resolve the issue by reprograming the motor inverter software, free of charge, NHTSA said.
The Q50 hybrid vehicles in this recall were all manufactured from Dec. 10, 2012, to June 25 of this year. The Q70 hybrid vehicles were built from Nov. 7, 2013, to May 7 of this year.
The second recall involves 817 2014-MY Infiniti Q50 hybrid and Q70 hybrid sedans that may have been assembled with transmissions whose housings were damaged during manufacturing, NHTSA said. The damaged housings may eventually crack and fracture, creating road debris and disabling the vehicle.
Dealers will inspect the transmission assembly and replace it if cracks are found. There will be no charge for this service.
Both recalls are expected to get under way this month.
