Ford has unveiled the second-generation of its 2015 Edge mid-size SUV that will become the first Ford vehicle to arrive with a standard EcoBoost engine.

For the all-new Edge, Ford added a new body structure and redesigned the suspension, according to Ford. As expected, the vehicle will also include optional auto stop-start and self-parking technologies.

The 2015 Edge offers three engines, including two new power plants — a 2.0L EcoBoost four-cylinder and a 2.7L EcoBoost V-6. Ford will also carry over the existing 3.5L V-6 engine. The engines will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0L EcoBoost should provide 245 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque.

For the first time, Ford will offer all-wheel drive with the Edge, as well as a towing package capable of hauling a 3,500-pound trailer.

Ford is also offering several optional driver-assist technologies with the 2015 Edge, including enhanced active park assist, adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake support, a 180-degree front camera with washer, air bag system mounted in the glove box, inflatable rear safety belts, and a hands-free lift gate.

Ford plans to sell the vehicle in more than 100 global markets. In 2013, commercial fleets added 6,259 Edge SUVs. Total fleet registrations were 23,275.

Update (3/25/2015): Ford will introduce adaptive steering with the 2016-MY Edge rather than the 2015-MY vehicle as originally reported, a spokesman told AutomotiveFleet.com.
