GE Capital Fleet Services has unveiled an application specifically designed to enhance fleets with bailment pool vehicles. According to beta customer, J.J. Keig, fleet administrator for RentWay, the new online bailment reassignment tool allows customers to address the assignment of pool vehicles with improved speed and accuracy and provides an innovative way to accommodate a niche fleet customer. “Specific fleets require the flexibility of a bailment pool program,” he explained. “This allows instant access of ‘road-ready’ upfit or custom built vehicles that would otherwise result in greatly extended order to delivery times. The bailment reassignment tool allows the fleet manager to order, assign and manage pool vehicles with a significantly higher level of efficiency than before.” Kelly Ly, GE Capital Fleet Services’ e-commerce product manager, said that prior to the development of the online bailment application, fleet managers were required to reassign each vehicle manually by submitting spreadsheets or reassignments via fax. The entire process was labor intensive and time consuming. “Now, fleet managers create a single order on the Web for a pool of vehicles,” Ly said. “We confirm their request and automatically convert the single order into multiple purchase orders with the manufacturer. Once the purchase orders are placed, fleet managers can reassign their vehicles to specific drivers when they are ready to do so - eliminating the need to submit manual spreadsheets or reports for each reassignment.” RentWay’s Keig noted less processing time, greater accuracy, versatility in management and reporting, as well as ease of use.
