FOSTER CITY, CA - The NAFA San Francisco Chapter held its monthly meeting Sept. 23 in Foster City, Calif., at the National Auto Club (NAC) NAC headquarters. As host of the event, NAC "rolled out the red carpet" for the San Francisco chapter members with a fully catered lunch followed by a facility tour conducted by NAC's Ronn Chaussard, VP of IT and Operations, and A.J. Iamaio, business development manager.
After the facility tour, the group assembled in the NAC front office for a brief chapter business session by Chapter Chair, Chris Burgeson, CAFM, fleet manager for the City of Napa. One of the key points of the business session was the announcement of a chapter name change survey. Burgeson encouraged all chapter members to make their voice heard by participating in the Web-based survey and, if agreeable to the name change, also selecting the new chapter name.

Following the chapter business session, Ron Chaussard, VP of IT and Operations, took attendees on a journey during his presentation on the history of "Road Service: Past, Present, and Future." Chaussard provided some well-preserved examples of old log books to share with attendees how road service was done "back in the day." The presentation progressed through time, showing the fully automated current practices and how Chaussard's call center staff manages each call from the time it comes in to the time the ticket is closed. He concluded with a look into the very near future: attendees were given an advance look at the integration of smartphone technology with NAC's road services.
The next NAFA San Francisco Chapter meeting is scheduled for Oct. 28 and will be hosted by Carter Industries at its Union City, Calif., location. The agenda includes chapter business, which should include an announcement of the new chapter name. In addition to lunch, there will also be a site tour and product overview.
