Mitsubishi Motors will offer a fleet version of its 2019 Outlander PHEV compact SUV exclusively to commercial and government fleets that will be delivered later this year, according to the company.
The fleet model will slot under the GT and SEL trim grades of the vehicle. Mitsubishi is now taking orders for the vehicle. Production will begin this summer. The vehicle will be mostly a carry-over model from the 2018 model year.
"The fleet version won't have the creature comforts such as power passenger seats, chrome accents, auto dimming mirror, power liftgate, and the seats will be a combination of cloth and synthetic leather as opposed to our standard leather in the other trim packages," said Jeff Holland, a Mitsubishi spokesman.
The plug-in hybrid utility vehicle will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that's paired with two 60-kilowatt electric motors in the front and rear. The motors are fed by a 12 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery.
Pricing, fleet incentives, and other details will be announced later this year.
Mitsubishi has been offering a plug-in hybrid variant of its Outlander since the 2013 model year, when the vehicle entered its third generation, in Japan. In the U.S., the vehicle became available in December.
