Manheim Auctions recently celebrated the inaugural heavy-duty truck sale at its Fort Worth Vehicle Auction. More than 100 trucks were sold at the event on Feb. 28, a sale that marked the beginning of an expanding program of such sales. The facility is specially equipped to handle heavy-duty truck sales, with two of the six lanes built large enough to accommodate heavy trucks, and plans are to hold sales monthly. Manheim’s Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction is currently the largest heavy-duty truck auction in North America, hosting two sales per month. The heavy-duty truck sales in Fort Wayne will serve as a model of success for other auctions as Manheim expands its heavy truck segment. Manheim Auctions is establishing additional heavy-duty truck auction locations in Orlando, FL and Las Vegas, for a total of four truck sale programs by the middle of 2001. Manheim Auctions is a wholesale automobile auction company with locations in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, France, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. The company assists auto manufacturers, fleet and lease companies, and banks to sell their used car inventories efficiently and effectively. The company also offers transaction, reconditioning and certification services, dealer floor planning, and government auction services. Manheim Auctions is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cox Enterprises Inc., with more than 34,000 employees at its 126 auctions and related businesses. It also provides wholesale and retail used-car transactions on the Internet through its Manheim Interactive and AutoTrader.com lines of business.
