Jonathan Kamanns was named Associate Director, Fleet & Driver Safety for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., headquartered in Ridgefield, Conn., effective Jan. 18, 2021. Boehringer Ingelheim operates a 3,200 vehicle fleet in the U.S.
Prior to this role, Kamanns was Program Manager Fleet, Safety & Driver Risk Management for CTE (Carolina Tractor and Equipment Company) in greater Charlotte, N.C. metro area. While at CTE, Kamanns was responsible for Fleet and Driver-Risk Management program development & advancement.

Earlier in his career, Kamanns has held fleet leadership positions across both sales and service fleets at Ingersoll Rand, Cephalon, and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
Kamanns succeeds Lee Miller, the long-time Associate Director, Fleet Services, who retired from Boehringer Ingelheim on Dec. 31, 2020, capping a 41-year career with the company. Miller was an award-winning fleet manager and was named Automotive Fleet’s 2012 Professional Fleet Manager of the Year.

In addition, Miller was active in industry associations and served on several client advisory boards. Miller joined Boehringer Ingelheim in 1979 and quickly advanced up the management ranks. When the fleets of Boehringer Ingelheim’s six subsidiary businesses were centralized under fleet services in the 1990s, Miller was named Manager, Fleet Services and later promoted to Associate Director, Fleet Services.
George Steiner
Miller spent her entire career at Boehringer Ingelheim. In an earlier Automotive Fleet interview, Miller said she responded to a newspaper ad for a “clerk” position at Boehringer Ingelheim in 1979, a year after she graduated from high school. As she related in her interview, Miller never imagined that responding to this ad would lead to more than a four-decade career with the pharmaceutical company. Also retiring from Boehringer Ingelheim on Dec. 31, 2020, was George Steiner, who served as the company’s fleet manager for 21 years. Prior to joining, Boehringer Ingelheim, Steiner worked as the fleet manager for Union Carbide/Praxair. Altogether, Steiner worked 40 years in the fleet industry.
