Louise Davis-Lopez, CFM/CAFM, will retire July 1 from Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in New Brunswick, N.J., concluding a 40-year career with the company. Davis-Lopez joined J&J in 1974 as an auto fleet expense report clerk.

Davis-Lopez managed 7,924 vehicles nationally, overseeing one of the largest commercial fleets in the industry. Davis-Lopez received her Certified Fleet Manager (CFM) certification from the Wharton School of Business in 1986 and later her NAFA Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) certification. The CAFM designation certifies mastering the eight core disciplines of fleet management.

Davis-Lopez became supervisor of Auto Fleet Operations at J&J’s world headquarters in 1987, and continued to apply her knowledge and expertise of the fleet industry and fleet operations.

While at J&J, Davis-Lopez established a vehicle condition program, which reduced vehicle reconditioning costs, as well as process and efficiency improvements. This project earned her a Green Belt Six Sigma certification. She also created a Fleet Excellence program to recognize outstanding J&J operating companies who have met and exceeded fleet performance goals in four key areas.

Her work on sustainability efforts earned her the 2010 Environmental Leadership Award from Automotive Fleet. She has been named a Sustainability All Star from Green Fleet for the past three years. Her work led to J&J's recognition in the Top 50 Commercial, Private Utility & Public Sector Hybrid Fleets. She was also part of the original J&J SAFEFleet team bringing "safety first" to the forefront of fleet programs.

Davis-Lopez was the founder of Fleet Excellence, an internal recognition program for Johnson & Johnson fleet business partners. The program not only recognizes best-in-class performance, it influences behaviors that drive future results.

In 2014, Davis-Lopez was honored by one of J&J’s long-time fleet suppliers with a lifetime achievement award. She was a long-time member of the GE Capital Fleet Services' Client Advisory Board and also sat on the Element Fleet Client Advisory Board for safety and technology.
