Hyundai is teaming up with the House Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Caucus and the Department of Energy to promote hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and infrastructure in the U.S.

The House Hydrogen and Fuel cell caucus organized a briefing for members of Congress to hear some of the benefits and future plans for hydrogen fuel cell technology for the U.S.

"Fuel cells and hydrogen energy are a key to utilizing cleaner, domestic energy sources," said Caucus Co-Chair Representative John Larson. "From ending our dependence on foreign oil, reducing harmful emissions, and spurring American manufacturing, fuel cells will play a critical role in solving some of our most pressing problems."

Larson introduced a piece of legislation in 2012 to provide the fuel cell industry with a 30 percent tax credit, but the bill was never enacted. 

Hyundai became the first automaker to offer a mass-produced fuel cell vehicle in June. People have the opportunity to lease the Hyundai Tuscon Fuel Cell for $499 per month which includes unlimited free hydrogen refueling and valet maintenance. The driving range on a Tuscon Fuel Cell is 265 miles.
