Daniel Henson has been named president and CEO of GE Capital Fleet Services. In addition to this new responsibility, Henson will continue to oversee GE Auto Financial Services (AFS), where he was president and general manager. Although AFS recently decided not fund new consumer leasing business in the U.S., GE Capital has reaffirmed that its business strategy is committed to doing business in the commercial/fleet management market. Henson, 39, has worked with GE Capital since May 1987. He has worked in a variety of sales and business development roles since joining GE Vendor Financial Services more than 12 years ago. In 1995, Henson moved to Europe as the general manager of GE Capital European Equipment Finance. In 1998, Henson was named vice president and chief quality officer where he oversaw all of GE Capital’s Six Sigma Quality initiatives. Henson is a graduate of George Washington University’s School of Government and Business Administration in Washington, DC. Rick Smith, who has been president of GE Capital Fleet Services since 1995, has been named president and CEO of P&C Reinsurance Americas. In his new role, Smith will report to Ron Pressman, president and CEO of Employers Reinsurance Corporation (ERC). Pressman is a senior vice president of GE and a direct report to GE CEO Jack Welch. Smith will lead a business that provides insurance to property and casualty (P&C) insurance companies throughout the Americas. It is the largest reinsurer in the Americas and Smith will have direct responsibility for ERC, P&C North America, GE Reinsurance, and ERC Latin America. This business represents more than $3 billion in annual premiums (sales). Smith joined GE in 1983 in marketing and product management for the Plastics Business Group. In 1994, he was named president of GE Capital Modular Space and in 1995, he was named president and CEO of Modular Space.
