MIAMI – Bobby Griffin, president of international operations at Ryder System, Inc., will retire from the company in the first quarter of 2007, after more than 34 years of service. David Bouchard, who will succeed Griffin, has been appointed senior vice president and general manager of international operations, reporting to Ryder Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Greg Swienton. Griffin was responsible for developing Ryder’s global operations, including sales, customer relations, and overall profitability and operating performance in Mexico, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Griffin joined Ryder as executive vice president of consulting at ATE following Ryder’s acquisition of ATE Management and Service Company. He later held leadership positions of increasing responsibility including vice president of operations for Ryder Transportation Services, senior vice president of field management – Western U.S., and executive vice president of Global Supply Chain Operations prior to his current position. Before joining Ryder, Griffin was deputy director general for the ATE/DMJM joint venture of the Saudi Arabia Public Transportation Company. Earlier, he was an associate with ATE providing route, scheduling, marketing, and planning expertise for transit systems throughout the United States and globally. Bouchard is a 20-year veteran of Ryder, with experience in strategic planning, operations, and sales within the company’s Supply Chain and Fleet Management business segments. He most recently served as senior vice president of high-tech and consumer industries for Ryder’s U.S. Supply Chain Solutions business segment. Prior to this appointment, Bouchard served as vice president of Ryder’s Dedicated Contract Carriage segment, where he was responsible for the operations and strategic development of the custom transportation operation. Bouchard joined Ryder in 1987 and has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in strategic planning, operations, and sales in both the Fleet Management and Supply Chain divisions of Ryder. Prior to joining Ryder, Bouchard held various positions in management and sales at Central Transport in Boston and McLean Trucking Company in New England.
