The GMC Savana Pro will soon make the transition from contractor’s dream to production model reality. The Savana Pro was first unveiled at last year’s SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas. GMC worked with The Home Depot and conducted focus groups with contractors to develop the cargo van’s features, such as side-access panels with remote keyless entry for easy access to both sides of the vehicle, providing secure, one-step locking. It will also come with enhanced interior lighting that illuminates the full cargo area. A Savana Pro bin package will also be available through the GMC Commercial Fit for Profit program. Additionally, some of the specialty equipment stocked on the SEMA concept model will be made available on the open market, such as a locking roof-mounted ladder rack and AuraGen underhood generator. Custom storage cabinets and a voice recognition phone system will also be available. The van will be in dealer showrooms during the first quarter of 2002.
