GM FCO Cites Substantial Improvements in Order-to-Delivery
Significant improvements were made in GM Fleet and Commercial Operations’ (FCO) order-to-delivery times because of the extended efforts of the order management team to prioritize fleet orders through the manufacturing and distribution channels within the corporation. For the 2001-model year, GM FCO expects to be able deliver all but 115 of the commercial units they’ve received orders for. To put this figure in perspective, 2,668 commercial units went undelivered for the 2000-model year and an estimated 10,000 commercial units during the 1999-model year. Dave Hansen, general manager, GM Fleet and Commercial Operations, said, “We looked at the entire order-to-delivery process and streamlined it and added new technology where appropriate to help our customers track their orders via the Web and through wireless communication. Furthermore, we’ve beefed up our customer support team to make sure our customers receive personal attention on any specific order inquiries.”
