General Motors is adding new safety features to its 2014-MY Chevrolet Sonic, including a rear-vision camera, Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Departure Warning system. Two features, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning, are available on all models save for the base LS model (the Sonic comes in LS, LT, LTZ, and RS models for 2014). The rear-vision camera is standard on the LTZ and RS models and available on the LT.
Other new features for 2014 include an LT Promotional Package, which comes with Chevrolet MyLink radio, a power sunroof, and front fog lamps, and three new exterior colors, including Ashen Gray Metallic, Red Hot, and Cool Blue.
The Sonic received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score in the New Car Assessment Program administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM noted. Also, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2013-MY Sonic a Top Safety Pick. The vehicle comes with 10 standard airbags.
