Ford has shipped more than 8,000 2015 F-150 pickup trucks to dealers, and the trucks should arrive in the next few days at dealers across the country, a Ford spokesman told AutomotiveFleet.com.
"They should have them any day now," said Mike Levine, Ford's truck communications manager. "They're on their way."
Ford began shipping its redesigned aluminum-body F-150 shortly after it built the first pickup in late November. The first truck was built on Nov. 22 at the Ford Rouge Center assembly plant in Dearborn, Mich.
Ford has been hosting driving events at dealer lots to allow customers to get behind the wheel of the new F-150, and hosted several Built Ford Tough round-up events for commercial customers in October, November, and December.
With the 2015 F-150, Ford implemented an aluminum-body that slims about 700 pounds of weight from the 2014 F-150. The 2015 model improves fuel efficiency by 29 percent when equipped with the 2.7L V-6 EcoBoost, and has achieved an EPA-rated 26 mpg highway.
