Due to the overwhelming attention given to the Department of Transportation’s proposed revisions of the hours-of-service (HOS) rules in early May, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has scheduled three roundtable discussions on the subject for this fall. The participants will include representatives of stakeholders in the HOS rulemaking, trucking companies, industry groups, and safety groups. Each discussion session will focus on specific issues. The FMCSA also has extended the comment period on the proposed changes to Dec. 15 and predicts a long delay in issuing a final rule.
