DOE to Meet with Public Fleets on EPACT Mandates
The Department of Energy (DOE) has scheduled three informal public workshops to discuss regulatory options related to potential fleet mandates required for local governments and private fleets under the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPACT).
Because the federal government is required to consult with state and local governments prior to rulemaking, two of these public workshops will be open only to state and local government officials or representatives. The DOE said it will decide what to propose as regulatory requirement on local government and private fleets regarding alternative-fuel vehicles after the consultations have taken place.
The public workshops held in Chicago on Aug. 1 and in Denver on Aug. 22 are open only to state and local government employees, according to the DOE. The Washington, DC, workshop on Sept. 26 is open to all.
