In response to continued worldwide demand for the Chrysler PT Cruiser, the company will add production by increasing the output of its Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico by 80,000 units annually. The increased output will begin in the autumn of 2002, but U.S. customers should see increased numbers of PT Cruisers at dealerships this summer, because all of the Toluca factory’s current production capacity of 180,000 vehicles will be allocated to the North American market. Vehicles for international markets are to be produced in the company’s Eurostar plant in Graz, Austria. Adding Eurostar’s 50,000 vehicle capacity to the expanded numbers from Toluca will mean that by the end of 2002 total PT cruiser production will reach 310,000.
