Commercial Fleet Sales Fall 1.9% in January
In January, sales to commercial fleets fell 1.9%, while sales to daily rental increased 16.1%. Sales to government agencies increased 5.7%.

Sales of vehicles to commercial fleets from eight manufactures fell 1.9% to 52,886 in January, with flat sales of trucks, SUVs, and vans nearly balancing out a sharp decline in sales of passenger cars.
The manufacturers increased truck-based sales by 0.3% to 47,367. Sales of passenger cars declined 17.2% to 5,519 units, according to Automotive Fleet data.
Daily rental sales from nine manufacturers increased 16.1% to 144,980 in January. Truck, van, and SUV sales in this segment increased 20.6% to 88,298, while car sales increased 10.7% to 56,682.
For the month, sales to government agencies from five manufacturers increased 5.7% to 18,101. Truck-based sales increased 4.6% to 14,993, while sales of cars increased 11% to 3,108.
In the three fleet segments, sales increased 10.2% to 215,967. Truck-based sales increased 11.6% to 150,658, while car sales increased 7.2% to 65,309.
