Colorado Law Would Allow EV Makers to Sell Direct to Public
State SB20-167 would allow upstart electric vehicle makers to circumvent dealer franchise rules.

A Colorado state senator has introduced a bill that would allow electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers to sell their vehicles directly to customers, bypassing dealership.
According to the Colorado Sun, Sen. Chris Hansen's Senate Bill 167 would amend a law that currently prohibits all manufacturers, except for Tesla, from selling directly to consumers. The bill so far has the baking of some government officials and electric car maker Rivian.
Rivian officials told the news outlet that it has received a lot of interest in its electric SUVs and pickup trucks from Coloradans.
The Colorado Automobile Dealers Association has publicly expressed condemned the bill, because it cuts out dealerships from the sales process.
