Clinton Suggests Fuel Suppliers May Be Engaging in Price Gouging
President Clinton said on June 16 that fuel suppliers may be engaging in price gouging, and he said he is “very worried” about high gasoline prices in the Chicago and Milwaukee areas. He said the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency will investigate. In Chicago and Milwaukee, gas prices on June 16 were over $2 a gallon, the highest in the nation.
