Circuit City, Pep Boys & Best Buy to Carry Cellport Universal Hands-Free Car Kits
In agreements with Cellport, nationwide retail chains of Circuit City, Pep Boys, and Best Buy will carry the Cellport line of universal hands-free car kits. These distribution agreements will result in Cellport products being available through more than 1,500 retail outlets across the United States. With these agreements, Cellport has now established significant nationwide presence in both the vehicle OEM and aftermarket channels. Ford Motor Co. and Nissan North America’s Infiniti division will equip several of their 2002 model year vehicles with Cellport universal hands-free products, as well as the use of the Cellport 3000 with Voice Command in several General Motors concept vehicles at the recent SEMA Show. In addition, Cellport recently announced its expansion into Europe and Asia through its Global Partners Program. The new Cellport 3000 with Voice Command uses speaker-independent voice recognition, ena-bling any driver to use simple English commands to place or answer calls on their wireless phones without having to look at or touch the handset. The system’s patented Universal Docking Station and phone-specific Pocket Adapters accommodate various cell phone makes and models. The Cellport 3000 with Voice Command will continue to work even when drivers upgrade to newer handsets, change their wireless service provider, or when multiple drivers each use different handsets.
